A Short Message To Get You Excited For Sunday’s Worship Service.

Give Me This Water

By: Elijah Bell

“Dad, I’m thirsty! Give me some water!” I hear this all the time. Most nights before bed, and over and over any time we’re in the car. I get used to the fact that before the boys will settle down in their beds in the evenings, I will have to bring them a glass of water so they will go to sleep. I’ve also started carrying a refillable bottle of water in my backpack that I now take everywhere with me for when they get thirsty out and about. I’ve had to refill that bottle over and over again! It seems no matter how much they drink, they are always thirsty again right away. Oh how I wish we didn’t have to refill the bottle so often! Wouldn’t it be nice to find a source of eternal water that never had to be refilled?

I can relate to the Samaritan woman at Jacob’s well in John 4 when Jesus says to her “but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never thirst” (John 4:14) and she then replies with. “Sir, give me this water, so I will not be thirsty nor come back here to draw” (John 4:15). This woman, a social outcast, had to make the trek of shame every day to the well to draw water, coming in the heat of the day so as to avoid interaction with people who looked down on her and judged her. When Jesus met her, He didn’t look down on her. He offered her something incredible: “But the water that I will give him will become in him a well of water springing up to eternal life” (John 4:14).

This Sunday, we’ll look at John 4:1-26 and notice how Jesus interacts with people others shun. He meets the woman where she is. He offers her a source of eternal, living water, and He reveals the truth about Himself when she asks for it. Jesus will do the same for us.

Join us this Sunday, October 11 at the Holly Hill Church of Christ at 10:00 AM for Bible class and 11:00 AM for worship as we study John 4:1-26 and learn to say “give me this water.”

News

This Section Is For Any Special Announcements That Are Not Upcoming Events Or Prayer Requests.

  • Welcome To Holly Hill, Foister Family!

As we prepare to welcome Ethan Foister, our new Children and Youth Minister, along with his wife, Gabby, and daughter, Korra, to Holly Hill, we would like to help make their transition into the church apartment as welcoming and comfortable as possible. The Foister family will arrive in Frankfort on Monday, October 26.

To make the housewarming collection more efficient and avoid duplicate items, we will now be accepting monetary donations rather than individual household and pantry items. Several ladies have graciously volunteered to use the funds received to purchase needed items and stock the apartment before the Foister family arrives.

An acrylic collection box will be located on the round table in the foyer for monetary contributions. Members may also purchase gift cards to local restaurants and place them in the collection box. Those wishing to contribute by check may place a check in the offering plate with “Foister Family” written in the memo line.

Because time is needed to purchase the items and prepare the apartment before their arrival, the deadline for all contributions is Wednesday, October 21.

Thank you for your generosity and for helping us give Ethan, Gabby, and Korra a warm and thoughtful welcome to the Holly Hill family!
