A Short Message To Get You Excited For Sunday’s Worship Service.
Life Is A Vapor

“The end is nigh!” In today’s society, there is no shortage of people claiming to know that the world is about to end. Look around at the way things are! You can hardly blame them. The truth is, while no one knows when the world will end (Matthew 24:36), we can know something for certain: It is almost the end for us. We are living in our own last days, and we don’t know which will be our last.
On Tuesday, September 15, 2026, there was a metro bus crash in Chatsworth, a suburb of Los Angeles, that killed two people. Called to report on the accident from the air was NBC Los Angeles’ NewsChopper4, piloted by George Marciniw with aerial journalist Eliana Moreno reporting. While getting footage of the accident, shortly before 7:00 PM, the Eurocopter AS350 B2 they were flying lost altitude and crashed between commercial buildings in a business area along North Mason Avenue, killing the two people on board and one more on the ground. In the video being broadcast live from the helicopter, Eliana Moreno can be heard uttering her last words: “Uh oh. Can you… You can’t pull up?”
This veteran news crew had flown together since 2023. They thought that this would be another routine news report. Tragically, while covering an accident that killed two, they both lost their lives as well. None of us know when our time will come. Are we prepared? Are we living like we were dying?
The book of James was written to an audience who had become arrogant, complacent, and needed to be reminded that true belief in God always results in a living and active faith while living their final days. While Paul’s letters address the error of a belief that one can earn his salvation (Ephesians 2:8-9), James addresses the opposite and equally dangerous error that since God’s grace covers all, Christians need not change their lives at all. This is why James makes it clear that “faith without works is dead” (James 2:17).
In chapter 4, James reminds believers how to conduct themselves while living out what are ultimately their final days. He says in verse 14, “Yet you do not know what your life will be like tomorrow. You are a vapor that appears for a little while and then vanishes away.” In this chapter we see three major ways we should live because our life is a vapor: First, we must not be a friend of the world (4:1-8). Second, we must be subject to God (4:7-12). Third, we must plan our lives around Him (4:13–17).

Kelly T. Adams Obituary
Kelly T. Adams, 86, of Frankfort, died at home Sunday evening, with his wife by his side. He was born in Franklin County on August 30, 1940, to Clara Belle Parris and Lewis Samuel Adams.
Kelly was a graduate of Baldknob School and a member of Peaks Mill Baptist Church. He worked as a Supervisor and Equipment Operator at Art's Electric where he retired after twenty-seven years. Kelly then served the people of Franklin County as a Deputy Coroner for twelve years. He was a gifted musician, and his passion for music was undeniable. He played whenever he could. Kelly leaves a legacy of music, faith, and family and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Kelly is survived by his wife, Lynn Adams; his two daughters: Lisa Agee (Skip) and Donna Moore; his son, Lewis Adams (Sandra); his sister, Karen Stoops; his two brothers: Alvin Adams (Brenda) and Mike Sudduth; ten grandchildren; twenty great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his daughter, Teresa Wagner; his son, Greg Lusby; and his parents.
Services will be Thursday, September 24 at 1:00 PM at LeCompte Johnson Taylor Funeral Home. Lewis Adams and Donna Moore will officiate. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM at the funeral home and will run until service time.
Pallbearers will be John Cook, Roger Platt, Ricky Shelton, Everett Barber, Mike Sudduth, and Dale Adams. Honorary pallbearers will be his grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Bluegrass Care Navigators, 643 Teton Trail, Frankfort, KY 40601. Arrangements were entrusted to LeCompte Johnson Taylor Funeral Home.

Sep 26-30 | Rolling Hills Men’s Day & Gospel Meeting

Tech Team Support
The Holly Hill Tech Team is in need of additional help! We are currently looking for a few more volunteers who would be willing to be trained to assist with setting up livestreams and audio equipment.
This is a fairly simple task, and you will receive thorough training before ever serving on your own. Whether you have prior experience or are completely new to the process, we would love for you to consider helping with this important ministry.

Meal Train & Potluck Ministry

Youth Ministry
Holly Hill is beginning the process of searching for a Children and Youth Minister. The Evangelistic Committee — Scott Trent, David Jones, Tom Owens, Jeff Jones, and Robert Roach — would greatly appreciate your suggestions, recommendations, and input as we begin this important work.
Please keep this position, our congregation, and the search committee that will be formed in the coming days in your prayers. We ask for God’s guidance and wisdom throughout this process as we seek the right individual to serve and help lead our children and youth ministries.
Greeting Card Ministry
Every Sunday there are cards spread out on a table in the auditorium, right in front of the nursery window, which will be sent out to various church members and guests who need encouragement. You can help serve and encourage by making sure to sign these cards each week. If you know someone who would benefit from receiving a card from the church, please provide the name and address to Joyce Best. We will have “Get Well” cards, “Thinking of You” cards, “Praying For You” cards, and “Sympathy” cards.
