A Short Message To Get You Excited For Sunday’s Worship Service.
A Loud Shout
By: Elijah Bell
In Ezra 3:10-13, some of the Israelites had been allowed to reenter the Promised Land, and they began to rebuild the temple so the people could begin serving God in the prescribed way again. As the foundation of the temple was laid, there were two very different reactions. Each group shouted out loudly, but for very different reasons.
The first loud shout came from the people who saw the work God was doing in their midst in laying the foundation of the temple, and they praised Him, thanked Him, and appreciated the amazing thing being done in their midst, even when it was still early on in the building process.
A second loud shout came from the older folks who had been around to see the original temple before it was destroyed. They wept loudly, made comparisons, and caused confusion by being so loud that it prevented the people from knowing who was praising, and who was weeping. They were more concerned about THEIR vision for what God should be doing rather than just appreciating the work He was doing at that moment.
I wonder how many times we are guilty of missing what God is doing in our midst because we’re too busy complaining, comparing, and confusing.
As we worship this Sunday, we will look at this passage and ask which loud shout we are raising up to God. One of praise and thanksgiving for the work he is doing, or one of negativity because it’s not what we had envisioned.
Join us this Sunday at 10:00 AM for Bible class and 11:00 AM as we worship God together and learn how we can have a loud shout of Joy for what God is doing at Holly Hill! We hope to see you there!
