A Short Message To Get You Excited For Sunday’s Worship Service.

Run With Endurance

Article By: Elijah Bell

We have many new opportunities facing us at Holly Hill! We had 143 sign-ups during our Ministry Fair at the end of March! We had 18 baptisms in the past twelve months. We had 176 people in attendance for last Sunday’s worship service! With all the growth comes opportunities. But there will always be the temptation to ignore the opportunities right in front of us, and turn back.

In the same way we sometimes lose sight of the blessings right in front of us and go back spiritually speaking, we see that in the book of Hebrews, the Jewish Christians were facing temptation to forget the gospel of Christ and go back to the old way of the Old Testament sacrificial system. What the Hebews writer says to them applies to us as well: “Run with endurance the race that is set before us” (Hebews 12:1-2).

In verses 1-2, we see several ways we can run with endurance:

“Therefore, since we have so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, laying aside every weight and the sin which so easily entangles us, let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.” (Hebrews 12:1–2, LSB)

We can run with endurance when we recognize it’s been done before us for centuries by people of faith. We can do it, too! We can also lay aside the weights (of sin and self) that slow us down so we can continue to run without growing tired. We can look to Jesus, who ran perfectly because of the joy set before Him!

Please join us this Sunday as we dive into this topic, and explore how we can run with endurance, and not miss all the amazing opportunities that are in front of us right now! See you Sunday!

  • Great Day In May 2026

We are excited to begin sharing information about our upcoming Great Day in May (GDIM) and encourage everyone to mark their calendars and begin inviting others to join us for this special occasion.

As a congregation, we have set a financial goal of $20,000 and an attendance goal of 225 for this year’s Great Day in May. We ask for your prayers, participation, and support as we work together to reach these goals.

This year, the contribution collected on GDIM will be divided to support two important efforts. Half of the offering will benefit the William Joseph Crisis Nursery, which provides emergency shelter and compassionate care for children ages 0–5 during family crisis situations, including those involving domestic violence. The remaining half will be directed toward capital improvements for our church building, helping address needs such as new carpet, sealing and striping the parking lot, and pressure washing the building.

Please begin spreading the word, inviting friends and family, and prayerfully considering how you can contribute to making this Great Day in May a meaningful and impactful success.
