A Short Message To Get You Excited For Sunday’s Worship Service.

He Has Risen!

Article By: Elijah Bell

“He has risen!” How do these words make you feel? The way you respond to this phrase indicates who Jesus is to you—Either Lord, or an unfortunate inconvenience or waste of time. The apostle Paul says in 1 Corinthians 15:14, “And if Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is vain, your faith also is vain.” The way we respond to the resurrection of Jesus indicates if He is Lord of our lives, and His work not being in vain in us.

In Matthew 28:1-15, we see two responses to the phrase “He has risen.” We see the response of the women at the tomb in verses 1-11. They saw the proof He had raised (6), they reported to others what they had seen (7-8), they had fear and great joy (8), they worshipped Jesus (9), they obeyed His voice (11).

On the other hand, in verses 11-15, we see a very different response from the chief priests to the knowledge that “He has risen.” They took counsel together against Jesus (12), they gave a large sum of money to cover it up (12), and they made up a false story to keep people from believing (13).

What will your response to Jesus’ resurrection be? One of joy, worship, and obedience, or one of pride, control, and deception?

  • Great Day In May

We are excited to begin sharing information about our upcoming Great Day in May (GDIM) and encourage everyone to mark their calendars and begin inviting others to join us for this special occasion.

As a congregation, we have set a financial goal of $20,000 and an attendance goal of 225 for this year’s Great Day in May. We ask for your prayers, participation, and support as we work together to reach these goals.

This year, the contribution collected on GDIM will be divided to support two important efforts. Half of the offering will benefit the William Joseph Crisis Nursery, which provides emergency shelter and compassionate care for children ages 0–5 during family crisis situations, including those involving domestic violence. The remaining half will be directed toward capital improvements for our church building, helping address needs such as new carpet, sealing and striping the parking lot, and pressure washing the building.

Please begin spreading the word, inviting friends and family, and prayerfully considering how you can contribute to making this Great Day in May a meaningful and impactful success.

  • Gift Card Collection

I am collecting contributions for a gift card for Joe & Baileigh Richardson in celebration of their baby girl, who is due on May 7. The deadline to contribute is Sunday, Apr 12.

  • Avenues For Women: 30-Day Building Campaign

Avenues Clinic is preparing to begin the construction on the new facility, and we are gathering the support needed to complete the project.

Do you have construction skills, trade services, or access to materials that you would be willing to donate? Do you have connections with others who do and may have a heart for this ministry?

We would love to connect you with our contractor. Please contact our office at (502) 695-0512 or office@chooseavenues.com.

We would also welcome financial donations to help offset costs. Please be in prayer alongside us as we begin this next phase of His work for LIFE.
