A Short Message To Get You Excited For Sunday’s Worship Service.
Like Grasshoppers
Article By: Elijah Bell
In Numbers 13-14, God commands 12 spies to go scout out the Promised Land, and come back with a report of all its goodness. They return, carrying a large cluster of grapes as proof of the prosperity of the Land, but they also carry something else—Doubt. Ten of the spies admit that the Land is indeed very good, but that the people there are like giants, and they themselves are like grasshoppers. Not in God’s sight, but in their OWN. This comes right on the heels of God promising to deliver the Land to them.
Two other spies, Joshua and Caleb, have faith in God to deliver the goodness of the Land into their hands, that God will defeat the enemies for them in the Land, and the people need only to trust God. Then, God tells the ten spies, and the rest of the people they had convinced to doubt, that they will not enter the Promised Land, and will die in the wilderness. He tells Joshua and Caleb that because of their faith, they will see the Land and all of its goodness.
God is wanting us to “scout the land” as well. To see the goodness and spiritual prosperity of entering the Kingdom of Christ, the “Promised Land” while we wait for Jesus’ second coming. Many of us do in fact see God’s goodness at work in the world, but for fear of the enemies, the “what-if’s” and the “but-the’s” and the “if-only’s” prevent us from truly believing that God can lead us into the fullness of such a Kingdom.
Let us not be like the ten spies, who are grasshoppers in their own sight, but rather like Joshua and Caleb, who truly trust that no matter what obstacles lie in our way, that God will deliver on His promises, when we are faithful and trusting.

Please pray for this position and for our congregation and for the search committee that will be formed in the coming days.

If you’d be willing to teach, sub, or help, please see Scott Trent. We have a wonderful opportunity to teach God’s Word to our children. Let’s make sure they get our very best! Thank you!
Greeting Card Ministry
Every Sunday there are cards spread out on a table in the auditorium, right in front of the nursery window, which will be sent out to various church members and guests who need encouragement. You can help serve and encourage by making sure to sign these cards each week. If you know someone who would benefit from receiving a card from the church, please provide the name and address to Joyce Best. We will have “Get Well” cards, “Thinking of You” cards, “Praying For You” cards, and “Sympathy” cards.
