Meet The Church Leadership Team

Our Elders

Dr. Tom Roach, DEL

My life has been about service – in church, to our nation, and in the community.

I have preached, taught classes, served as a deacon, and was the Church of Christ Distinctive Faith Group Leader during each of my two military deployments to the Middle East. I retired from the Army after nearly 31 years of service.

My wife Sonia and I reside in Shelby County and have been active members at Holly Hill since arriving in 2012. Sonia rightly calls herself a professional volunteer, working in the church’s pantry, delivering food to those in need, and caring for her parents who live with us. In my full-time vocation, I serve as the Senior Army Instructor for Bullitt Central High School Junior ROTC and teach business classes.

My goal for the congregation is simple. I want each member to be Christ-like; loving all people, helping those in need, sacrificing for each other and the community, and advocating for the truth.

We understand that every saint has a past and want all sinners to know there is a future in Christ. We aren’t perfect, just forgiven. Come grow with us.

Ray Bowman

When James A. Garfield relinquished his position as church of Christ elder in 1881, he reportedly stated, "I resign the highest office in the land to become President of the United States." I’ve been blessed to hold a number of professional and social positions throughout my life and career, but like Garfield I feel serving as an elder in the Lord’s body is the most significant work I have ever performed.

Apart from my duties at Holly Hill I currently serve on the executive committee of the Potter Children’s Home and Family Ministries and am vice-chair of the Potter Foundation board. I am also president of Franklin County Farm Bureau and serve on committees for Kentucky Farm Bureau. My wife Stephenia and I own Jerusalem Ridge Farms, a small beef cattle operation in northern Franklin County.

My prayer is that you find Holly Hill to be a warm, friendly, Bible-based congregation that supports you in your Christian walk and helps you to share the Good News.

Todd Best

I was raised in the church, and grew up in the congregation in Shelbyville, Kentucky, where I would go on to eventually serve as a deacon. I’ve been a member at the Holly Hill congregation for 15+ years now, and have served as an elder for about five or six of those years.

I am married to my lovely wife, Angela, and we have three children who are grown. For employment, I’ve worked at Martin Rea Heavy Stamping in Shelbyville for 27 years.

My vision for the church is to see us grow in number and to grow spiritually to be stronger in God’s Word and to show the love of Christ in our communities.

Our Ministers

Kurt Montooth

Preaching Minister

I’m Kurt Montooth and I live to help others.

This led me into Christian Ministry. I started in ministry over a decade ago and graduated from Freed-Hardeman University with a B.A. in Biblical Studies in 2012. I have held various ministry positions over the last ten years. I have served as the Preaching Minister at the Holly Hill Church of Christ since 2017. In addition to preaching my Emily and I coordinate the children’s ministry. I’ve been married to Emily since 2014 and we have two wonderful boys in the children’s ministry program. My desire to help people and my experiences in ministry lead me to study and practice as a therapist. I earned my Masters of Marriage and Family Therapy from Campbellsville University in 2020. My counseling practice focuses on Christian counseling, teens and adolescents, and marriage counseling using Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy.

Elijah Bell

Community Minister

Hello! I’m Elijah, the community minister here at Holly Hill. I’m married to Katie, a wonderful superwoman and mother. We have two sons, Gideon, age 3, and Gabriel, age 1. Before coming to Holly Hill, I graduated from the Bear Valley Bible Institute International in Denver, CO. After that, I worked with a congregation in Marshfield, WI for a couple of years before moving to Kentucky and taking up a position here working with the community.

My vision in life is for everybody in our congregation to THINK SOULS! People matter, and are deserving of our time, attention, and compassion. That’s why I love being the community minister and getting to have a part in some of the good that this congregation is doing in the community of Frankfort, KY. Stop by one of our services sometime, and when you do, I’d love to get to know you. I hope to see you soon!

Nick Gill

Bivocational Minister

I was baptized into Christ in February of 1994 at age 20, and my wife Carly and I have been part of the Holly Hill family since 2007. During the day, I work for the Commonwealth of Kentucky as a Victims of Crime Act grant administrator, and serve Holly Hill as a bivocational minister. I've been an orphan, a soldier, a homeless person, a prodigal, and more. I love reading and writing, tabletop roleplaying games, baseball, and teaching people about Jesus. Tomorrow, I plan to stop procrastinating, but until then, I hope you'll come visit us at Holly Hill and see what God is up to here.
