FROM THE PREACHER’S PEN May 11, 2008
Two little boys ransacked their father's toolbench to build a fort in their back
yard. The preschool-aged brothers went to opposite sides of a big
oak tree and started banging nails into plywood. They bent most of the
nails, so the youngest brother went back for more. When he didn't return
for a long time, his older brother headed to the garage. He found
his sibling on the floor sorting nails. He had one small pile in front
of him and was throwing away all of the others. Sensing his brother's
disapproval, the younger guy said,
"I'm throwing these away because the top of the nail is on the wrong
end." The older brother quickly replied, "You
dummy! We can use those nails on the other side of the
fort!" Matthew 7:3 - "Why do you see the speck that is in
your brother's eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye?"

JUST
A NOTE BY….DAVID
I recently heard someone repeat a statement that “The best
argument for Christianity was the Christians and the best argument against
Christianity was the Christians.” It’s true we hear so many stories about
people pretending to be Christians and perhaps we’ve even found our own selves
frustrated by this. However, what is most beneficial is when we focus on
whether or not WE are an argument “for” or “against” Christianity. How do
others see us in relation to God? If we maintain a life coherent with the
Scriptures we know we’re living Right. Let us strive every day to live more and
more like strong evidence for the certainty of Christianity.
